It all began in a tiny cabin in a remote commune we called ‘Shantytown’ during the Summer of 2018. Picking up my first DSLR Camera and being let loose into the wilderness of Alaska sparked a feeling inside of me that I had never felt before. Alaska is teething with vast, lush, various landscapes, with wild animals roaming everywhere you look so it wasn’t hard finding subject matter.. but being patient enough to learn the process of how to re-create what it is you see through your own eyes, proved to be a monumental task.
Attempting my foot at some of my first few ever shots, I quickly learned that you don’t just “point and click” to shoot beautiful photos. There is a method to this madness and one I needed to become familiar with.. From understanding what it actually is you want to shoot, to using correct angles for light, all the way to knowing what is in your frame when it comes to clicking that button.. it all contributes certain factors into how people can put emotional relevance into their photographs or make impressionable art.
The “Land of the Midnight Sun” which is also known as The Last Frontier, became my First Frontier into the exploration of art and self-expression through the Camera.
